Yesterdays encounter with the bear is still on my mind. For me it was the first meeting with a wild bear in its true environment,
and it was truely special. It was a majestic feeling that is hard to explain. To be able to see such a magnificent animal like the bear in such an wilderness that we are traveling through, is a dream comming true. With the snow-covered mountains in the background and not a single human sound, except for the dripping from the paddles when we slowly moved closer, it was a dream coming through.
About today then...
It´s been a very hot day, but peaceful. The paddling is still the same as the last couple of days, no streams and very wide. We are getting far more tired every day, due to the hard physical work we´re putting ing, but it´s what we´ve expected.
During the day we´ve seen that some birds, despite the heat, are starting to fly south. A sign as good as any that the autumn is getting closer.
We put the camp on a sandy beach today and it´s great to be able to lay down on a flat spot for the night, instead of the previous nights of ´´bumps´´. It´s been a peaceful day over all and we´ve ended it with an amazing bath in the, now warm, Kolyma river(sea). Lets hope that we, as yesterday, succeeds with catching some fish in the net during the night. |
