Sunny and warm, almost no wind.
We woke up today to a bright and shiny sun and the best weather yet since we started the expedition. The air was crisp and crystal clear and it reminded me of the autumns at home. The best of all was that there was NO mosquito´s around! One thing, though, there was one thing that could have been better, Mikael´s stomach. During the previous night he started to feel a bit sick. We still decided to move on since we already spent one day resting. One of our goals today was the village of Orotuk where we were hoped to buy some food and maybe, if we were lucky, a coca cola for Mikael and his irritated stomach. When we saw the gap in the otherwise unpenetrable forest, were the road to the village was supposed to be starting, we realized that we wouldn´t get either food or cola. There were just ruins and we realized that Orotuk of today only exists as a name on the map. So we continued paddling in the sun.
The views during today´s paddling have been spectacular. The rain we had yesterday had fallen as snow up on the high mountains and to see those white mountain tops rising from the green landscape below was magnificent.
By the time we found our campingspot at another abandoned logcabin, Mikael´s sickness, which is due to mosquitocoil poisoning, had culminated in fever. But now after some rest he is starting to feel better. Lets hope it will be all gone tomorrow!
Ps. We have had some problems sending images with the dispatches, therefore you have to stick with the former one .Ds |
