2004-07-19 - Nice people & too much stress
Written by Johan Ivarsson:
Russia is so much more than I could ever have expected. It’s the people and the hospitality among everyone that I refer to. My idea about Russia and its people before I entered the country and met all this nice people were slightly negative. Even if I understood that reality probably would be better than I´ve heard, the trip so far have been wonderful and full of good impressions. It’s been very exciting to meet all these personalities here at the club, listening to their experiences and knowledge, not only about their own trips but also about the areas that we are going to. The more information we get the more anxious I become setting the canoe in the water and slowly start our adventure down the river.
My own problem with mosquito bites, seems to spread. Tonight Titti also got attacked by these irritating creatures, almost as much as I did. Even the motorboating danes at the club, have been hit by the itching and irritating bites. But despite this, one has to try to see the positive aspect of it all, at least it happened in the modern world, not out there in the wilderness were the problem could have turned serious.
Tomorrow it is time to head off again, towards Magadan, our next goal on route. Even if we have enjoyed our time here in Moscow, we three are not made to stay in the city for more than a shorter period of time. There is stress everywhere, all this terrible noise and the feeling that one can never relax as one would like too, makes us look forward getting to Magadan and another step closer to the beginning of the actual Expedition. |
