2004-07-17 - Adventure Club of Russia
Finally, after many days of sleepless nights, we feel totally at peace! We´re lying on the floor of an office belonging to the Adventure Club of Russia and suddenly we´ve realized that the adventure has actually begun!
The last two weeks have been terrible and hard on the old nerves. Basically due to the worry whether we would be able to enter Russia with 300 kg;s off specialized gear. We´ve communicated day and night with Russia´s most famous explorer, Dmitry Shparo. We´ve been worried, so has he. But we got through the customs, no problem. Even with the important rifle. Dmitry is worth every single Euro we´ve paid him! He is also, like the other exploring Russians at the club, a nice, very relaxed and kind human.
Thank God this great exploring life has once again begun!
And we look forward to a worryfree night. And, one thing is for sure, the dangers of the wilderness are nothing compared to the obstacles of bureaucracy! |
